Gâteau et crème glacée
Not on a daily basis. BUt sometimes, we want to indulge. And we should be able to, without second guessing ourselves, without guilt trips. Moderation is the key, I say. ANd Keith Richards is 70, so baaah to all that healthy living craze that deprives us from enjoying yummyness. Moderation is the key.
So yes, why shouldn't I indulge in a slice of coconut cake (recipe soon to be up on the blog, this week), a spoonful of strawberry ice cream, a couple of sliced strawberries, all this sprinkled with chocolate? It's not like I eat this every afternoon, and usually I indulge in this type of snacks when my lunch was a mere salad. Moderation is key, don't you think?
I have had this thing for eating ice cream and cake together ever since I was a kid, as I was reading what was at the time one of my favourite series, the Trixie Belden Mysteries. I don't remember exactly what book it was, but it described a very hot Summer night, where Trixie is waiting for one of her brother's to come back from the store with a gallon of ice cream so they could eat it with cake. And that's stayed on with me ever since, and it makes one of the best snacks.
So don't stray away from your cravings, and do take pleasure in enjoying them, with no guilt trips attached. As long as you can act with moderation, there's no reason why you shouldn't.
