Vintage

I am quite a fan of a certain je ne sais quoi champêtre where it comes to the kitchen apparels. I like to have florals in my kitchen, I love the use of muted colours, the look of something that has gone somehow out of fashion, and brings to mind an era long gone. That is why I sometimes raid my grandmother's old kitchen utilities. These things aren't around anymore, unless you find them in antique fairs and brocantes, and it is a shame as they are so well done, made to last and to embellish. I mean, a utensil does not have to look dowdy or industrial to be useful, does it? It can look beautiful, too, as this lovely bowl looks.

Despite being quite sturdy, this bowl has a delicate design, soft pastel colours, and the little roses are all three different form one another, adding a certain visual interest to the whole frame. It is quite enchanting and a complement of beauty and usefulness within my kitchen. What about you, do you have a preference for these old time styles or are you more into contemporary designs?
